Whilst Nu-Wav Drapery Creations was created in 2005, our story started decades earlier.
Founder and Managing Director of Nu-Wav Drapery Creations, Ms. Debra London, tells people that her journey in the drapery business is really a love-story. As far back as she can remember, even as a child in primary school, she loved fabric and style.
Debra remembers, very vividly, playing dress up with her dolls and making outfits for them. They actually had changes of clothes in different designs and were always outfitted in the latest style.
Debra recalls how her mind raced in all different directions with images of designs she could produce and like many other little girls, she loved playing dress up, matching colours and textures and spending time creating elaborate ensembles in her imagination.
It was no surprise to anyone, therefore, when Debra began sewing at a very tender age, using her creative energies to achieve that unique style and elegance that she imagined. By age fourteen, she was sewing her own clothes which she loved doing and which everyone admired.
During the almost three decades Debra spent in the banking industry, her love for fabric and design remained but the real catalyst for her immersing herself in the work she really loved was the move into her first home with her husband.
The prospect of creating one-of-a-kind designs for her home and turning night into day creating beautiful drapery, cushions and bedding, completely engulfed her, so that just as it did when she was a young girl sewing her own clothes, this kind of “work” brought her an immense, and intense, sense of pride and joy.
From there, Debra started doing jobs for family members and friends and pursuing a number of courses in interior decorating and custom drapery, committed from the start to producing quality work, no matter how small the job.
Eventually, in 2009, after a long journey which some would say took Debra straight back to where she started, she let her heart take the lead, and made the decision to let the love of her life become her full-time life’s work.
And so began Nu-Wav Drapery Creations, peopled by a core crew of dedicated professionals who share the same passion for excellence in the creation of elegant, quality, custom-designs, led by Debra at the helm!
